It’s Odd Alright! But You Should Never Ever Throw Away That BANANA PEEL! Here’s a Study Why You Should EAT IT!

Often used in comedies and cartoons, slipping on a banana peel is a never-failing comic formula. However, not many people know that banana peels are also health beneficial.

Here’s a nifty trick to erase that uneasy taste…

Even though probably none of us does this, but bananas should be eaten unpeeled.

This may sound a bit off-putting, but if you know that a yellow banana peel packs a high amount of potassium, magnesium, and fiber, it’s worth trying.

Moreover, a banana peel contains tryptophan, the key ingredient for the production of serotonin – a substance that helps prevent and combat depression, and helps you sleep better.

“A banana peel also contains dietary fiber that helps regulate cholesterol levels in your blood,” explains Dr. Anne Daniels from the British Nutrition Association.

It’s not only banana peel that’s health beneficial, but the peel of many other fruits is also rich in vitamins and minerals because it is exposed to sunlight while the fruit grows.

Dr. Daniels adds that a banana peel contains carotenoids, and is especially rich in lutein, an antioxidant that protects the eyes from oxidative stress.

Experts agree that a banana peel is healthy and that we should eat it, but also note that its taste is not really pleasant. To make it more palatable, they advise leaving bananas to ripen well so as to be sweeter.

If you really want to eat the peel, experts advise cutting an unpeeled banana before cooking it for ten minutes and then drink the liquid as tea.

Or have the peel boiled and drink the liquid.
