The Color of your Tongue Has a Lot to Say About Your Health Condition

The tongue is described as the soft, movable part in the mouth which is used for tasting and eating food and in human beings for speaking.
They say it is the strongest muscle because it can lift a body. Kidding aside, it functions not only for eating and speaking but is also an indicator of your health. The tongue’s appearance and color may impose health risks if the color is beyond normal.
Find out what this means with the list we have provided to see what health risks it imposes:
1. LIGHT COLOR AND DRY
Lightness and dryness of the tongue can be seen and noticed if your tongues are not moisturized and hydrated that much. One of the main reasons why this happens is due to jaundice. This may also indicate weakness or indifference, fatigue and sometimes the presence of an intestinal swelling.
2. PINK AND MOIST
This is the normal appearance of the tongue, pink and moist. This color and condition are considered best especially if there are no spots present. This really indicates that you are truly healthy.
3. PALE or YELLOW IN COLOR
Most of the time, when you are suffering from colds, physical heat and viral infections, a pale or yellow color of the tongue can be observed. If a white layer is present, this is indicative of an infection present.
4. RED EDGES
Red edges in the tongue can be seen if there is an intestinal infection present. The middle part of the tongue appears normal but the edges seem very red. This may also be due to menstrual discomfort or menopause.
5. DARK RED
When the tongue is injured, its color darkens with an appearance of dark red apart from the normal which should be pink. This may also indicate the presence of fever or infection due to the heat in the blood.
